Trump added that Xi would “love” to help broker peace Iran, telling Hannity: “He did offer. He said I would love to be of help, if I can be of any help whatsoever.”
On Thursday night local time the two leaders attended a banquet where a military band serenaded Trump with one of his favorite tunes: “Y.M.C.A.” and he delivered a speech to guests, riffing about blue jeans and Chinese food.
During his own speech at the podium, Xi described the American president’s visit as “historic” and called on both nations to be “partners rather than rivals,” adding, “We must make it work.”

An old speech by Chinese President Xi Jinping is drawing attention on social media following his high-profile summit with President Donald Trump.
The 2015 Seattle address, which featured multiple references to American literature, has garnered nearly one million views on X.
“The Chinese people have always held American entrepreneurship and creativity in high regards,” Xi said at the time. “In my younger years, I read the Federalist Papers and Thomas Paine's Common Sense. I was interested in the life story and thinking of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt and other American statesmen. I also read works of Henry David Thoreau, Walt Whitman, Mark Twain and Jack London.”
He added that he developed a deep admiration for Ernest Hemingway, even visiting a Cuban bar the author once frequented and ordering a mojito.
“I just wanted to feel for myself what was on his mind and what the place was like as he wrote those stories,” Xi said. “I believe that it is always important to make an effort to get a deep understanding of the cultures and civilizations that are different from our own.”
The user who posted the speech had high praise for the Chinese leader, writing “Xi Jinping is more American than most Americans.”

The Chinese leader invoked the “Thucydides Trap,” urging Trump to avoid the historical pattern in which a rising power and an established power slide into conflict. The pair also talked about ways to enhance economic cooperation and the need to stem the flow of fentanyl into the U.S., according to the White House
