San Diego shooting updates: Two suspects dead after active shooter reported at Islamic center, report says

A reported active shooting threat at the Islamic Center of San Diego has been “neutralized,” according to police.

Few details are immediately available about the incident, which was reported to police around 11:40 am.

At least one person was killed in the shooting, according to the Muslim civil rights group CAIR and local news outlet KGTV, though this information is unconfirmed by police.

Two suspects are dead and no other shooters are outstanding, law enforcement sources told NBC San Diego.

Staff and law enforcement could be seen walking children out of the compound.

San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria wrote on X he was aware of the incident and asked the public to avoid the center.

“Please avoid the area and follow instructions from public safety officials,” he said. “We will share updates as more information becomes available.”
